SCRANTON CHILDREN'S LIBRARY

Well, I am way, way behind on blogging all of the great things and people I have encountered on the PA One Book Tour. I have been so impressed by the ingenuity and creativity of the librarians and teachers in the decorations, lesson plans and games based on Stop Snoring, Bernard!
But I think the Over the Top, Best Games and Decorations Department Award has to go to the Children's Library of Scranton. The pictures below do not do them justice, but it was incredible!

It started in the lobby where the kids could do Otter crafts and games.
Bear food bean bag toss anyone?
Hard to see in this photo but there are hand carved otter paw stamps that the kids could use to make otter paw prints on the table and learn about the special webbed paws of otters.
Don't worry, those animals are at the zoo, not jail.
The good ole' lunch bag otter puppet station.
The kids loved the guess the shadow game.
And lastly, a friend from New York, happened to be walking by (yes! in Scranton!) because he is an amazingly talented and in demand Tuba player for the New York Philharmonic. He was in Scranton and heading to a rehearsal across the street. He saw the library poster and snapped this photo of the event....crazy small world we live in!

  2. Zach is well-behaved and is a delight to have in our library. He is welcome back anytime with his family. And we will bring him to Dunmore to see where his father comes from. The children and parents had a great time meetng the famous author and getting their books autographed. And doing the otter dance!
    Thank you Zach!
