BOOK REPORT

I was taking out the paper recycling this morning when I heard a scurrying at my front door. I opened it up to find Luke, a third grader who lives on my block, trying to knock on the door without dropping his awesome book project. Not only is he the nicest kid you will meet, he rides crazy skateboard/scooter hybrids and has great literary taste.
I was honored that he chose Stop Snoring, Bernard! as his book report shoebox diorama. And it reminded me how fun those were to make. While I was taking this picture, he proudly told me that he slapped the whole thing together this morning. (Hope his teacher isn't reading this)
Way to cheapen what I do Luke!

READING AT MOOMAH THURSDAY MAY 19TH

Super excited to be doing a double reading at Moomah in TriBeCa. On Thursday. The first one will be for an animation class for 6-9 year olds. I'll be doing a demo on drawing Bernard and they will use stop motion to animate their drawings. Can't wait to see what they come up with.
After that I'll do another reading open to the public and a signing to follow.

CUPCAKES AND CAB RIDES

Had a great time at the booksigning on Saturday at Books of Wonder.  Oskar had a great time passing out stickers to every person who came in the store.

Had the pleasure of meeting legendary kids book illustrators Leo and Diane Dillon.

We also were blown away by Matthew Reinhart and his incredible pop-up books.
We snagged a super hero one and got it signed before we left.
To top it all off we got to hang with some good friends and Oskar had his first New York street hot dog, Mr Softie and a carousel ride in Bryant Park.

Asked what was his favorite part of the day?

The cab rides.

BOOKSIGNING THIS SATURDAY AT BOOKS OF WONDER

This Saturday, I will be joining a handful of illustrator's and authors for a Booksigning and Q & A at Books Of Wonder in Manhattan. I'm super excited, I used to pore over the books at this amazing store while I was trying to come up with book ideas. Plus, they have cupcakes.

And extra bonus, Oskar is coming with and he'll be handing out Bernard stickers. A job he takes quite seriously. Hope to see some New Yawk peeps in there too. Been too long.

PICTURES FROM THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT READING

Thanks to everyone who came out on Friday and made the reading at Character Development a great success and lots of fun. Thank you Jackie and Chris for all the behind the scenes organization and being incredible hosts. After the reading we went back to our place, lined up for some Bernard cake and pizza. Good times.
