This Friday, meet local author and illustrator Zachariah OHora as he reads and signs his book Stop Snoring, Bernard! a sweet book about an otter with a snoring problem and a lesson in tolerance and acceptance.

Also on display is a larger than life, custom, hand painted by the artist himself, Stop Snoring, Bernard! window display. In honor of Get Caught Reading month the window display will be at independent book and toy seller Character Development for the month of May.

GREEN APPLE BOOKS

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. I lived in San Francisco. I love San Francisco and consider it my spiritual home of sorts. One of the many great places to visit in SF is Green Apple Books.
A great independent bookstore, with creaky wood floors and jam-packed with all kinds of great stuff. You could spend a whole day reading the extended and passionate employee reviews of books on notecards all over the store.
This photo was taken by a dear friend and it is an honor to be displayed inside such a great institution.

If you plan on picking up Bernard, try to do it while supporting a vanishing breed, the independent bookstore.

BIGGEST FAN

This is my son Oskar, he's 3 and a half and after that he will be 4. So he reminds us on a daily basis. Oskar can "read" Bernard by memory, almost word for word. I get a lump in my throat every time he does it.
This is the word balloon for the Character Development window installation that I have been mumbling cryptically about.

MOVE OVER BOSSYPANTS, BERNARD HITS THE SHELVES!

Bernard continues to make a splash! I'm thrilled and honored to be loved by the folks at Moomah. An amazing place that is my fantasy hangout with my kids come to life.
Where else can you go where your kids can do art projects, and eat good organic food, all while you sip a carefully selected beer, wine or espresso?
Exactly.
Can't wait to visit and hopefully bring Oskar and Teddy too.
